The School of Drama of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki organized the international conference “Imaginings of Greek Antiquity and the Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Cinema: Aesthetics, Identities, Ideologies”. Our task was to design an identity and develop its applications across both printed and digital media.
The conference brings together scholars and artists from theater, cinema, and the visual arts to explore how Greek antiquity continues to inspire, challenge, and reshape contemporary aesthetics, identities, and ideologies.
Our approach was guided by the idea of fragmentation and reinterpretation. We worked with the image of a classical head sculpture, split into layered sections and highlighted with golden surfaces. This visual metaphor reflects the multiple perspectives through which antiquity is re-imagined today — fractured yet luminous, timeless yet always new.
The typography complements the imagery with clarity and structure, using bold and light contrasts to emphasize hierarchy and readability. We extended this identity across all applications — poster, roll-up banners, venue graphics, and tote bag — creating a consistent presence for the event. Our aim was to design not only a logo and materials, but a visual experience that mirrors the very themes of the conference: the dialogue between past and present, tradition and innovation.
