Lineadesign has crafted a comprehensive identity system for IWAGPR2025, a prestigious three-day conference on cutting-edge advancements in Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology. Held in Thessaloniki, Greece during summer 2025, IWAGPR2025 is a biennial event that convenes leading international scientists, engineers, and GPR users from diverse disciplines. Attendees will delve into a rich program of high-quality scientific and technical presentations, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange in the dynamic field of GPR.
Lineadesign’s challenge was to develop a captivating identity that embodies the essence of IWAGPR2025. The design brief emphasized a visual representation of Ground Penetrating Radar technology and its core principle: analyzing reflected electromagnetic waves to identify objects and variations buried beneath the Earth’s surface.
Drawing inspiration from GPR data visualization, the logo takes the form of stylized electromagnetic waves. The varying thickness of the lines reflects the concept of signal strength, typically represented by color in GPR graphs. Encapsulated within a deep blue circle, reminiscent of our planet, the stylized electromagnetic waves symbolize GPR technology’s ability to penetrate the Earth’s subsurface and reveal hidden secrets. Deep blue, the primary brand color, signifies the earth and nature.
The IWAGPR2025 logo is paired with a contemporary typeface to form the conference’s primary brand expression. The acronym itself, IWAGPR2025, stands out with the first three letters (“International Workshop Advanced”) colored blue and the remaining three letters (“GPR – Ground Penetrating Radar”) colored red for emphasis.
With the new identity system in place, the Lineadesign team turned their attention to capturing the essence of Thessaloniki. They created a striking skyline of the host city to be incorporated into posters and flyers promoting the IWAGPR2025 conference.
